problems as opportunities
We create problems. We label things as “good” or “bad.” When in reality, nothing is truly good or bad, it just is.
It’s our nature to create labels, so we can figure out how to respond. But instead of looking at situations as problems, could we choose to see every situation as an opportunity?
A new, tough boss is an opportunity to see a different perspective.
A fight with a friend is an opportunity to make amends and forge an even stronger relationship.
A boring, repetitive job is an opportunity to see what you truly enjoy.
No food in the house is an opportunity to try a new restaurant.
A layoff is an opportunity to try something new.
Having big, unexpected expenses is an opportunity to believe in yourself.
Having different religious or political views are opportunities to listen without assumptions.
Coming down with the flu is an opportunity to rest.
I've started doing this, when I notice myself complaining (which is the first step- awareness!). Instead of continuing on the negative track of my problem, whatever it is, I flip the script. How could this be an opportunity?
So what problems are you facing today? How might you turn each of them into an opportunity?
