fear shows us our dreams
“First when there's nothing
But a slow glowing dream
That your fear seems to hide
Deep inside your mind”
Our minds hide our dreams beneath our fears. Fear can be paralyzing. It can keep us stuck right where we are. It can keep us small, afraid to move. It can keep us from going after what we really want.
But we can work through the fear. We can work through what’s holding us back. But how?
What if we decided that fear was a good sign? That if we were afraid, it’s actually a sign that we should do the thing. Fear can hide our dreams, but if we let it, fear can also show us our dreams. We can see fear as a tool for good.
Usually when we’re afraid of trying something, it’s because our ego is on the line. “What if it doesn’t work out? What will people think? What if I fail?” Our internal dialogue of fear keeps us from going after that slow glowing dream.
And those worries can be overwhelming, we want to do well and we want the stamp of approval from those around us. But it’s not worth it to let that fear hold us back.
And as Jen Sincero says, “Success = dream + fear + doing it anyway” so let’s do it anyway. Let’s decide that fear is pointing us in the right direction. Let’s try the thing and see what happens.
Let’s decide that we can have it all and that use fear to help us notice what we want. Let’s decide we can dance right through our lives.
“What a feeling
Is believin'
I can have it all
Now I'm dancing for my life
Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life”
