career moves with intention
It took me five years and five jobs to find work I really enjoy.
My path wasn't linear. I moved from pharmaceutical trials to market research to hospital research to human resources to where I am today.
At first, I just let jobs come to me. My first interview and offer, I said yes. My roommate referred me, I said yes. My first job offer during unemployment, I said yes. My first offer in a completely new field, I said yes.
There’s nothing wrong with saying yes but I’ve learned that finding jobs with intention can be so much more powerful.
When I realize that I have the power to choose, that saying no can mean I can say yes to something that aligns with my values more, that my worth isn't tied to my paycheck or my job duties- when I choose to find a job with intention, I am taking more ownership.
Though I've learned so much from each of my jobs, I realize if I'd gone through my career with more intention, maybe I would have allowed myself to go after my dreams faster.
I realize life is happening for me, but this extra dose of thought encourages me to go after what I actually want. Not just the easiest answer.
So are you going through life with intention? Are you looking for a change and likely to say yes to your first offer? Can you ponder what you actually want and allow yourself to go after that?
I'd love to cheer you on, so let me know!
